Michele Cascella

Michele Cascella was born in Ortona a Mare in 1892 and his artistic training has to be traced back to the 'hard labour in the workshop' alongside his father. He had his first exhibition in Milan in 1907, very rapidly followed by that in the Salon d'Automne in Paris. He spent the immediate post-war period in Milan with Clemente Reborn, and went on to exhibit in Brussels, London, Paris, the States and all the major Italians cities. His by now famous lithographs reveal the taste for a pictorial harmony of symbols bodied out in delicate veilings and meticulously calibrated chromatic landscapes.
